About Gridware
Gridware exists to enhance and protect the mother of all networks: the electrical grid. The grid touches everything and the consequences can be dire when it fails: wildfires burn, land is destroyed, property is damaged, and lives are lost.
Our team created an advanced sensing system to continuously analyze critical grid behavior. Utilizing high-precision sensor arrays and intelligence, our system identifies and preemptively mitigates faults. The technology has been proven with utilities to bolster safety, enhance reliability, and reduce outages. The demand for power will only increase. We protect the grid of today while we build the grid of tomorrow.
Gridware is privately held and backed by the best climate-tech and Silicon Valley investors. We are headquartered in San Francisco, California.
Team Overview
Gridware’s Real-Time Operations team is the first line of defense in monitoring the power grid for critical events. The team operates 24/7 to ensure the reliability of our expanding fleet of monitoring devices, rapidly detecting and classifying anomalies, and reporting critical events to customers. By leveraging analytics we continuously refine workflows, optimize decision-making, and enhance operational efficiency to scale effectively. The team plays a vital role in Gridware’s mission to create a safer, more resilient power grid.
Role Description
The Analyst plays a critical role in real-time grid monitoring by ensuring timely detection, classification, and reporting of anomalies and critical grid events. This role balances hands-on monitoring with developing scalable improvements to operational workflows. The ideal candidate has experience with real-time operations, time-series analysis, and a strong ability to identify automation opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Monitor real-time data streams from the fleet, investigate potential grid events, and report critical incidents to customers in a timely manner.
- Train in real-time operations procedures and participate in the on-call rotation as needed.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and accurate classification of grid events.
- Develop statistical analysis techniques and automated tooling to improve incident detection, classification, and response efficiency.
- Define and track KPIs to measure team performance, operational efficiency, and event resolution accuracy.
- Collaborate with Data Science and Engineering teams to refine event classification models and support future model development.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and work with Product and Engineering teams to develop scalable, automated solutions.
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis (academic research, internships, or professional work)
- 2+ years of usingPython or R for data analysis
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets
- Experience working in a fast-paced, real-time decision making environment
- Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related analytical field
- Experience in grid management, energy systems, clean tech, or climate technology.
- Experience in applying time-series analysis techniques to sensor data.
- Familiarity with real-time monitoring tools such as Grafana, Splunk, or similar.
- Experience developing dashboards using Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or similar.
- Experience with Git and version control for managing analytics scripting and automation workflows.
- Understanding of data science workflows, including exploratory analysis, model development, validation, and operationalization in production environments.
