Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer with deep expertise in wireless communications to design and optimize protocols for next-generation Gridware devices. This role will focus on building efficient, low-power communication solutions, leveraging peer to peer, mesh networking, cellular, and NtN communication protocols to expand device connectivity while reducing dependency on costly gateways. You will play a critical role in developing firmware that balances performance, connectivity, and battery life across a large, distributed network of devices.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize firmware for wireless communication protocols.
- Develop and customize mesh networking solutions to extend device coverage.
- Build and optimize communication stacks for power efficiency under varying connectivity conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on protocol design, testing, and deployment.
- Debug and validate communication performance across diverse environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in firmware development.
- Expertise with wireless communication protocols.
- Proven track record in mesh networking implementation.
- Hands-on experience prototyping and testing with hardware devices.
- Solid understanding of low-power system design.
- Strong debugging and optimization skills at the protocol/firmware layer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing firmware for large-scale networks.
- Familiarity with LoRa or other long-range, low-power protocols.
- Familiarity with NTN protocols
- Background in customizing and optimizing communication stacks for efficiency.
- Industry experience in networking/telecom (e.g., Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, TP-Link, Netgear, Starlink, ASTS).
- Knowledge of physical layer.
- Strong ability to balance bandwidth needs with power constraints.
