About the Role
Gridware is hiring a Senior Electronics Reliability Engineer to drive reliability and failure analysis for our outdoor electronic systems. This role focuses on PCBAs and electronic components, ensuring our products perform reliably in real-world environments over time.

You’ll work closely with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to identify, debug, and prevent failures at the board and component level. This role emphasizes practical reliability—understanding how electronics fail in the field and using that insight to improve design.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and debug board-level failures, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions across design and manufacturing
  • Review PCBA designs, layouts, and component selections to identify reliability risks early in development
  • Develop and execute reliability and validation plans for PCBAs and electronic assemblies
  • Apply reliability methodologies (e.g., DFMEA, DFR, accelerated testing) to identify and mitigate risks
  • Investigate field failures and test data to understand failure mechanisms and improve product robustness
  • Partner with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to drive reliability improvements from design through production
  • Work with external partners (CMs/ODMs, test labs) to validate designs and improve system reliability

Required Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in electrical, hardware, or reliability engineering
  • Strong experience working with PCBAs, including board-level debugging, bring-up, or design collaboration
  • Hands-on experience with failure analysis and root cause investigation of electronic systems
  • Understanding of common failure mechanisms in PCBAs and electronic components (e.g., solder joints, interconnects, capacitors, semiconductors)
  • Familiarity with reliability principles such as DFMEA, DFR, or accelerated testing
  • Experience working cross-functionally with hardware, manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, hands-on, and collaborative environment

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers (CMs/ODMs) and production environments
  • Experience analyzing field data or identifying failure trends
  • Experience with environmental or outdoor electronics systems
  • Familiarity with reliability or statistical analysis tools (e.g., Excel, JMP, MATLAB)
  • Experience with lifetime modeling and reliability prediction
