One of the leading causes of catastrophic wildfires and power outages? Trees and brush coming into contact with power lines.
That’s where we help. At Overstory, we use AI and advanced satellite imagery to pinpoint and prioritize vegetation risks before they materialize. By giving utilities critical analysis on those risks, we’re helping prevent outages, reduce wildfire risks, and accelerate the transition to a safer, more resilient grid.

As a Contract Technical Recruiter at Overstory, you’ll lead the full hiring process across a variety of roles for our engineering teams, partnering with hiring managers on everything from scoping and role design to sourcing, scheduling, interviewing, and offer delivery—all while ensuring a great candidate experience. As part of a small people team at a growing startup, you’re comfortable wearing many hats, staying flexible and adaptable, and moving quickly, while also serving as an advocate for our values and bringing in mission-aligned team members.
You’ll also work closely with our other Technical Recruiter to refine processes and strengthen our overall hiring strategy. In this role, you’ll have the chance to make a meaningful impact on both our team and our mission.
What you’ll do
- Own the full-cycle recruitment process for our engineering roles, from role scoping and sourcing to interviewing and offer delivery.
- Partner closely with hiring managers to understand team needs and design effective hiring strategies.
- Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines through creative sourcing and networking as well as application review.
- Schedule and coordinate interviews to ensure a smooth and timely process.
- Act as a culture ambassador, bringing in mission-aligned talent who reflect Overstory’s values.
- Partner with our Technical Recruiter to use data and feedback to optimize hiring practices and continuously improve results.
- Adapt quickly and pitch in across the people team when needed in our fast-paced, startup environment
About you
- 6+ years of experience in technical recruiting, including at least 2+ years in a startup environment
- Demonstrated successful experience closing niche technical candidates like machine learning engineers
- Experience with modern ATS systems such as Greenhouse or Ashby and full recruiting tech stacks
- Proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search strings, and networking to source niche technical talent
- Strong track record of building partnerships with hiring managers and guiding effective hiring decisions
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple searches while ensuring an excellent candidate experience
- Comfortable adapting to shifting priorities and thriving in a fast-paced startup setting
Nice-to-haves
- Experience recruiting for candidates in the geospatial, climate tech, or related industries
- Advanced Greenhouse experience, with experience configuring and optimizing the platform
- Experience with talent brand and recruitment marketing effort
Contract:
- 40 hours per week
- Contract for 6 months
About our team
We are a group of 85 people from all over the world. Fifteen nationalities are represented in our team. We work remotely from nine different countries and we are looking for candidates that are also living and working in one of these countries: United States, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Estonia, Portugal, France, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, and Canada. We meet up once a year in-person for our unforgettable team gathering event. We also offer the option to occasionally meet up for in-person collaboration.
