About the Role:

As a Founding Business Development Representative, you’ll be on the front lines of introducing Stationwise to fire departments and public safety agencies, acting as the critical bridge between initial curiosity and meaningful sales conversations.

You’ll spend your time researching and prospecting target departments and personas and crafting thoughtful outreach campaigns to book first demos with decision-makers. You’ll be an expert at understanding their unique operational challenges, handling objections with grace, educating prospects on the value we offer, and helping them envision a better way forward with Stationwise.

This role will work closely with our Head of Sales and founders to build prospecting lists, test outreach strategies, qualify opportunities, and help establish the SDR playbook that future hires will follow.

We expect to triple our growth this year and the work you’ll be doing will be instrumental in setting the foundation for our future success as a team.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive pay: $90-95k OTE ($55-60k base + commissions)
  • Competitive equity: Early stage startup equity to ensure you can share in the success you help create
  • Insurance coverage: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Opportunity to Travel: You’ll get to travel to conferences around the U.S. a few times a year to meet prospects and customers face-to-face
  • Remote work flexibility: We prioritize a collaborative and energetic work culture, with the flexibility to work remotely from wherever you are in the U.S.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic outbound prospecting through calls, email, LinkedIn and other creative channels
  • Book and hand off high-quality meetings to Account Executives / Founder
  • Qualify inbound leads and convert interest into booked meetings
  • Research accounts and personalize outreach to high-value prospects
  • Track activity and performance in our CRM and help define early sales metrics
  • Help identify data gaps in the CRM (missing contact information, personas and departments)
  • Share insights from the field to influence product, positioning, and go-to-market strategy
  • Collaborate directly with Head of Sales and founders to refine messaging, ICPs, and qualification criteria
  • Help shape the foundational SDR processes, tools, and best practices
  • Attend industry conferences around the U.S. a few times a year to help represent Stationwise and drum up new opportunities
  • Help explore new verticals for potential future customers outside of fire

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a sales development role, focused on outbound activity
  • A scrappy seller who is motivated to get creative and doesn’t just follow a playbook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills:
  • With prospects: You know how to be concise, relatable and compelling. You’re focused on building relationships and not pushing the hard sell.
  • With coworkers: You are quick to share what you’re hearing in the field, what’s working well and where you need additional support
  • Someone who is not afraid to consistently hit the phones (yes, our prospects often pick up!)
  • Curious, coachable, and excited to experiment with new strategies
  • Strong organizational skills; you’ll have to keep track of a lot of conversations and follow-ups
  • Experience with a CRM and other sales tools (or the ability to learn quickly)

Bonus Points:

  • You have experience selling in the GovTech sector
  • You have experience in public safety (especially the fire service)

About Us:

At Stationwise, our mission is to help customers fight fires, not software.

We build SaaS for fire departments, starting with a staffing tool. Fire Chiefs are under immense pressure to modernize, and Stationwise helps automate much of their workforce management, payroll, and budgeting. For the average career Fire Chief, labor costs are a $15-250 million a year problem—without Stationwise, the senior staff of a fire department wastes hundreds of hours a year just to input data, let alone tracking their budget. With Stationwise, Fire Chiefs can automate manual processes while making real decisions from their pay data, not just logging info for reports.

Our company was co-founded by Marcus Edwards, a firefighter's son, UIUC alum, and Stanford MBA, and Murat Aydos, formerly a senior staff engineer at Lyft at Udemy. Most employees are software engineers across the US and Turkey, and we’re now hiring to expand our Customer Success team, the first role of its kind in Turkey. As a venture-backed startup, we are all individual contributors who wear many hats—we promise the challenge will be great, and the chance to learn even greater.

We recently closed our largest customer yet, and we expect to triple the number of active users in Stationwise every few months this year. We expect even greater growth next year, so you’ll have the unique opportunity to build out the Customer Success function during this inflection point.

Our Values:

  1. In service of those who serve.
  2. We empathize with our customers. Our team builds the best products for public servants because it’s what they deserve.
  3. Multipliers.
  4. We achieve everything together. We accomplish big goals as a small team by making the most of everyone’s intelligence, capability, enthusiasm, and trust.
  5. Fearless feedback. We learn to grow. We are eager to seek out feedback, and team members provide it without hesitation.
  6. Rapid response. We respond to change quickly. We aim to make the right decision fast, then to execute even faster.
  7. Own the outcome. We hold each other accountable. Each team member is invested in (and responsible for) the work they produce.
  8. Question and conquer. We question everything. Through respectful discourse, we test assumptions to make sure the best decision gets made.
  9. Life, above all. We share the workload. We enjoy life outside of the office, and we take time to celebrate those moments together.

Application Deadline:

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply ASAP. We accept applications on a rolling basis and will consider applicants on a first-come basis until the role is filled.

Equal Opportunity Employer: At Stationwise, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. We celebrate diversity and provide equal employment opportunities to all individuals without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
