About Us:

At Stationwise, our mission is to help customers fight fires, not software.

We build SaaS for fire departments, starting with a staffing tool. Fire Chiefs are under immense pressure to modernize, and Stationwise helps automate much of their workforce management, payroll, and budgeting. For the average career Fire Chief, labor costs are a $15-45 million a year problem—without Stationwise, the senior staff of a fire department wastes hundreds of hours a year just to track this budget. With Stationwise, they can save time and also make real decisions from their pay data, not just log them for reports.

Our company was co-founded by Marcus Edwards, a firefighter's son, UIUC alum, and Stanford MBA, and Murat Aydos, formerly a senior staff engineer at Lyft at Udemy. Most employees are software engineers across the US and Turkey, and we’re now hiring more roles for our US-based customer team. As a venture-backed startup, we are all individual contributors who wear many hats—we promise the challenge will be great, and the chance to learn even greater.

We expect to triple our growth this year and the work you’ll be doing will be instrumental in setting the foundation for our future success as a team.

Ideal Background:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience: Product, Operations, Customer Success, or Sales is valued, though all individuals with a passion for operations are also encouraged to apply. We prioritize junior candidates willing to learn and grow as the company does.
  • Operations experience at a startup, small business, or early-stage company without established systems (bonus points if you put them in place!).
  • We have a preference for this employee to live in Chicago area to be a company culture carrier and co-locate with Chicago based team members. We are also open to fully remote candidates as well.
  • Burning passion to help the fire service—please use the questions to let us know if you have any connection to first responders, trade unions, teachers, or related blue collar fields.
  • (Nice to have) Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, databases, or working with data (especially for customer onboarding and/or data collection).

Responsibilities for Role:

  • Data onboarding & implementation (Collect data from fire departments, get it into the tool, and get them launched fast.)
  • Training (Train every user across the fire department from probationary trainee to Fire Chief. This includes video tutorials, virtual time with customers and (if needed) in-person time.)
  • Customer success (Manage ongoing customer support tickets to ensure 24/7 coverage across entire team)
  • Product feedback (Triage customer feedback to identify 1) what is urgent, 2) what should be added to the backlog and 3) when and how to push back on a customer requests)
  • Process improvements (Develop and/or improve the processes and documentation to support all of the above)

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Salary: Annual $60,000 - $72,000 base with path to permanent increases (not just one-time bonuses).
  • Competitive Startup Equity: Competitive startup equity—you will have a meaningful share of the success you create.
  • Insurance Coverage: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Professional Development: Feedback and growth are in our DNA—Marcus learned to give and receive frequent feedback at Bain and as an Arbuckle Leadership Coach at Stanford, and Murat managed performance reviews for most of his team at Lyft.
  • Thoughtful Hybrid Work Environment: Balance 2-3 days per week at home with 2-3 days in person (with an emphasis on culture and bonding). We’ll make the most of in the office time and use it to brainstorm and work together so the office time isn’t just Zoom meetings.
  • Opportunity to Travel: Travel 1-2 times a month to fire departments and industry conferences around the United States. After the first 4 months, there is a path to no travel (customer success / implementation) or a path to more travel (sales) depending on interest. For engineering off-sites, you may travel to Turkey (Istanbul and Ankara) once per year as well.
