Role Overview
As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at XBuild, you will play a critical role in driving new revenue opportunities for the company.
This role focuses on prospecting and developing new business through outbound outreach to contractors, home improvement companies, and enterprise accounts that are not yet engaged with XBuild. BDRs are responsible for identifying target accounts, generating interest, and creating qualified opportunities for the Account Executive and Enterprise Sales teams.
This is a high-activity, high-performance role where discipline, resilience, and competitive energy are essential. BDRs should be comfortable making a high volume of cold outbound calls, researching target accounts, managing multiple conversations, and consistently following up with prospects across multiple channels.
Key Responsibilities
Outbound Prospecting
- Make 100+ cold outbound calls per day to targeted contractors, home improvement businesses, and enterprise accounts
- Identify and research new business opportunities within XBuild's target market
- Build and manage a self-sourced pipeline of net-new accounts
- Maintain consistent daily outreach to generate pipeline
Multi-Channel Engagement
- Engage prospects through cold calls, email, text, and LinkedIn
- Move prospects through the top of the funnel toward scheduling discovery meetings
- Build rapport quickly with cold prospects and maintain productive conversations
Lead Qualification
- Identify decision-makers and determine readiness to purchase
- Qualify new business opportunities and move them forward in the sales pipeline
- Work closely with Account Executives and Enterprise Sales to hand off qualified opportunities
CRM Management
- Maintain accurate CRM activity and prospect records
- Log calls, outcomes, and follow-up tasks
- Ensure pipeline visibility for the sales team
Follow-Up & Persistence
- Maintain consistent follow-up across multiple touchpoints
- Re-engage cold prospects who may not be ready to convert immediately
- Demonstrate professionalism and persistence in every interaction
Sales & Marketing Collaboration
- Provide feedback on target account quality and outbound campaign performance
- Share insights from prospect conversations to help improve targeting and messaging
- Partner with marketing on outbound campaigns and account-based strategies
KPI Performance
Meet or exceed weekly and monthly KPIs including:
- Cold call volume
- Connect rate
- Meetings booked
- Qualified opportunities created
- Pipeline generated for new business
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 1–3 years experience in Business Development, Outbound Sales, or Sales Development
- Experience cold calling and generating new business opportunities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle rejection and maintain high activity levels
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced sales environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a high-volume cold outbound sales role
- Experience using CRM tools such as HubSpot or Salesforce
- Experience selling SaaS or technology products
- Familiarity with home services, construction, or contractor industries
- Experience with sales engagement platforms (e.g., Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo)
Non-Negotiables
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Previous experience in an outbound call center or cold-calling sales role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Strong phone presence and cold calling ability
- Excellent listening and discovery skills
- Ability to consistently achieve daily and weekly targets
- Ability to work 40 hours per week
- Experience utilizing AI platforms or tools
- Construction or home services background preferred but not required
